We B Even Later Than Usual… Thanks for Waiting

It took me a long time to pull the trigger on this web site and blog.  There were a few reasons, but the main one was my fear that it would go the way of every diary I’ve ever started… quick out of the starting gate, but ultimately neglected and abandoned. Unfortunately, that hesitation was all too justified.  Other than me posting the text of the eulogy I wrote for my father-in-law in late August, my last original blog post was in April. If someone got pregnant the day I posted it, she’d be just about ready to deliver. And yet, in those same nine months I created nothing.

While neglecting a little pink book with a tiny lock and key may be no big deal, this is different.  I’ve let down the people who have been kind enough to take some of their valuable time to visit this site and read my writing. For that I apologize.

I’ve been trying for a long time to think of what to write to get back in the blog saddle.  It didn’t seem right to just start posting again out of the blue without some explanation (despite there not being one) for my prolonged absence.  But every day I waited put more pressure on me to write a perfect blog post… and expectations of a perfect blog post kept pushing it out one more day.

That ends right now. It’s time to just rip the band aid off. No excuses, no trying to explain things, and no perfect blog post. Just back on the horse, ready to ride.

So friends, this is the re-launch of my writing web site and the We B Late blog.  I thank all of you who are still with me, and promise you’ll have many more opportunities to peek over my shoulder and see what I’ve written after I turn that little key.

Laur, no excuses needed. We all get in a slump. I think the biggest deterent besides life itself, is the need for perfection. Of course we’d like a grammatically correct, exciting blog each time, but that’s not always the case.

I have personally sat at the table with you and listened to some outstanding writing using one true sentence or thought and about five minutes.

Stellar, memorable writing in five minutes. Write down the bones, brush the editor off your shoulder and start with one true sentence or thought.

I can’t wait to read it. And conversely, apply the same to my blog, though a bit more active than yours, not nearly as it should be.

      Bonnie,

You are always a tremendous encourager! Where would my blog or my writing be without you? I look forward to both of us writing tremendous and true things this year, with mutual encouragement!

Laurie, I enjoy your blog and its interesting perspective, whether it comes daily, weekly or semiannually. Keep it coming!

Thanks, Marianne! I’m not going to promise daily, but hopefully it will be closer to that than semi-annually!
